DTC P0605 - Internal Control Module ROM Error

  1. Turn ignition on with with engine off. If MIL illuminates, go to next step. If MIL does not illuminate, go to step 3).
  2. Turn ignition on with engine off. Install scan tool to data link connector and check for DTCs. If DTC P0335 is present, go to next step. If DTC P0335 is not present, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TESTS W/O CODES article.
  3. Check circuit between MIL and ECM. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
  4. Check ECM fuse. Replace as necessary. If fuse is okay, check MIL bulb. Replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, replace ECM with a known-good unit. Clear DTC. See CLEARING CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in TESTS W/CODES - INTRODUCTION article. Retest system. If DTC resets, replace ECM.
