Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor

Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor measures temperature of intake air, and sends a signal to ECM. IAT sensor is a variable-resistor type airflow sensor. As intake air temperature decreases IAT sensor output voltage to ECM increases. On Sonata 2.4L, sensor is located in intake air housing with MAF sensor. On all other models, sensor is located in air cleaner housing. ECM uses IAT sensor signal to control fuel delivery. When air temperature is cold, ECM enriches fuel mixture by increasing injector pulse width. ECM will decrease injector pulse width when air temperature is warm.
