DTC P0120, P0122 Or P0123: Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Circuit (With Electronic Throttle System): Notes
NOTE:
The Throttle Position (TP) sensor is located at the side of the throttle body and is connected to the throttle valve. TP sensor is a variable resistor used to indicate the throttle valve opening angle. As the throttle valve opens, TP sensor resistance decreases. As the throttle valve closes, TP sensor resistance increases. TP sensor includes an idle switch. PCM supplies a 5-volt reference signal to TP sensor and then measures TP sensor signal voltage. TP sensor signal is used by PCM to adjust timing and injector pulse width. TP sensor signal along with Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor signal is used by PCM to calculate engine load.
