Electronic Brake-Force Distribution

The Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) system is a sub-system of the ABS system. EBD controls effective adhesion utilization of rear wheels. EBD utilizes the efficiency of highly developed ABS equipment by controlling slip of rear wheels in partial braking range. Brake force is moved closer to the optimum and controlled electronically, thus dispensing with the need for a proportioning valve. The proportioning valve being a mechanical device, has limitations in achieving ideal brake force distribution to the rear wheels, and limits managing flexible brake force distribution proportioning based on vehicle load or increased vehicle weight. In the event of proportioning valve malfunction, driver cannot notice whether it fails or not. Advantages of EBD include:
