Traction Control System

In traction control mode, when drive wheel speed exceeds a given amount, the HECU determines that the drive wheels are slipping and outputs a signal to reduce engine power.

The TCS system uses ABS system self-diagnostic system and fail-safe system to aid in servicing. When system detects a malfunction, HECU disables traction control and allows normal braking only. System then stores a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and illuminates TCS warning light. DTCs are retrieved for diagnosis through use of a HI-SCAN (PRO) or generic scan tool. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING  .
