Vehicle Speed Sensor

  1. Remove Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) located on top of transaxle. Using fused jumper wires, connect battery voltage to VSS terminal No. 1. See Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Connect battery voltage to VSS terminal No. 3 with a 3000-10,000 ohm resistor between battery and VSS. Connect ground to VSS terminal No. 2. Turn VSS shaft. Check for voltage pulses between terminals No. 2 and 3. There should be 4 voltage pulses for every one rotation of the VSS shaft. Replace VSS if it does not operate as specified. Tighten VSS mounting bolt to 35-53 INCH lbs. (4-6 N.m).
