Transaxle Range (TR) Switch (A/T)

  1. TR switch is mounted to transaxle, near shift lever mechanism. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TR switch. Set TR switch to "P" position. Check for continuity between specified terminals. See TRANSAXLE RANGE SWITCH TESTING  table. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, ensure TR switch is adjusted correctly. If adjustment is correct, replace TR switch .
  2. Turn ignition off. Set TR switch to "N" position. Check for continuity between specified terminals. See TRANSAXLE RANGE SWITCH TESTING  table. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . If continuity is present, no problem is found at this time. If continuity is not present, ensure TR switch is adjusted correctly. If adjustment is correct, replace TR switch.

Elantra, Santa Fe, Sonata & XG350
Park 3 & 8; 9 & 10
Neutral 4 & 8; 9 & 10
Tiburon
Park 3 & 9; 7 & 8
Neutral 3 & 12; 7 & 8
