Diagnostic Tests: Notes
CAUTION:
When battery or ECM is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until adaptation systems have completed a relearn cycle. See appropriate COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE:
While limited diagnostic information is available with generic scan tools, to properly diagnose vehicle, it is recommended to use HI-SCAN (Pro) scan tool.
NOTE:
Before replacing any component that scan tool suggests are faulty. Ensure that all wiring connections and harness connectors are okay. Ensure that power and ground circuits are functioning properly. For circuit identification, see appropriate wiring diagram under ENGINE PERFORMANCE under WIRING DIAGRAMS.
NOTE:
To identify PCM terminals referenced in testing, see PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS
article. To identify circuits and wire colors referenced in testing, see appropriate wiring diagram under ENGINE PERFORMANCE under WIRING DIAGRAMS.
NOTE:
When all repairs are completed, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Verify repair is complete.
