Engine Control Relay Test (Accent, Elantra & Tiburon)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2003 Hyundai XG350, 2003 Hyundai Tiburon, 2003 Hyundai Sonata, 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe, and 2003 Hyundai Elantra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Locate and remove engine control relay, see ENGINE CONTROL RELAY LOCATION table. Using fused jumper wire, apply battery voltage to relay terminal No. 2 (component side). See Fig 1. Using second fused jumper wire, ground relay terminal No. 4 (component side). Go to next step.
- With relay energized, check for continuity between relay terminals No. 5 and 1 (component side). Continuity should be present until voltage is disconnected. If continuity is not as specified, replace engine control relay.
