Section 12 (Engine Controls - System & Component Testing): Introduction
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2003 Hyundai XG350, 2003 Hyundai Tiburon, 2003 Hyundai Sonata, 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe, and 2003 Hyundai Elantra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For additional information on Santa Fe with 3.5L, refer to FUEL SYSTEM (3.5L)
article.
NOTE:
Testing individual components does not isolate shorts or opens. Perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens. For specific circuit diagrams to aid in diagnostic testing, see ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
Before testing separate components or systems, follow proper workflow. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article. If no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are present and a no-start condition exists, proceed to BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article. If no DTCs are present and a driveability condition exists, proceed to TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article for diagnosis by symptom (i.e., ROUGH IDLE, ENGINE STALLS, etc.).
