Ground Circuits

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2003 Hyundai XG350, 2003 Hyundai Tiburon, 2003 Hyundai Sonata, 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe, and 2003 Hyundai Elantra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Check resistance between chassis ground and PCM/ECM ground terminals. See PCM/ECM GROUND TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION  table. If less than 2 ohms exists, go to next step. If more than 2 ohms exists, repair wire(s) between PCM/ECM and ground.
  2. Connect voltmeter negative lead to chassis ground. Connect positive lead to each ECM ground terminal. See PCM/ECM GROUND TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION  table. With engine running, voltmeter should indicate less than one volt. If voltmeter indicates greater than one volt, check for open, corrosion or loose connection in ground circuit.
