DTC P0140 Ho2S Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1/Sensor 2): DTC Detecting Condition

DTC DETECTING CONDITION

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy Case 1
  • Signal plausibility during fuel cut off
  • Related fuse blown or missing
  • Contact resistance in connectors
  • HO2S contamination
Case 2
  • Signal plausibility during full load
Case 3
  • Signal plausibility after fuel cut off
Enable Conditions Case 1
  • (Downstream O2 sensor Voltage > 0.68V or < 0.21V) or Catalyst model temp > 500°C (932°F)
  • Sensor preheating and full heating phases finished
  • In fuel cut off phase
  • In fuel cut off active
  • 20g < Integrated mass air flow < 200g
  • No relevant failure
  • 10V < Battery voltage < 16V
Case 2
  • (Downstream O2 sensor Voltage > 0.68V or < 0.21V) or Catalyst model temp > 500°C(932°F)
  • Sensor preheating and full heating phases finished
  • 70g < Integrated mass air flow since begin full load < 300g
  • No relevant failure
  • 11V < Battery voltage < 16V
Case 3
  • Integrated mass air flow in last fuel cut off> 10g
  • Integrated mass air flow in part load > 250g
  • Coolant temperature > 74°C (165°F)
  • Downstream O2 sensor signal at end of last fuel cut off < 0.25V
  • Sensor preheating and full heating phases finished
  • In Closed loop mode
  • Minimum upstream lambda during Catalyst Purge phase < 0.98 (to ensure Rich mixture during Catalyst Purge Phase)
  • Catalyst temperature > 348°C (658°F)
  • No relevant failure
  • 11V < Battery voltage < 16V

  • Voltage with fuel cut off > 0.1V
Case 2
  • Voltage with full load < 0.70V
Case 3
  • Sensor signal increase < 10mV
Diagnostic Time Case 1
  • 2 sec.
