WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

ROA* sensor is installed in the head lining between the 2nd seat and the 3rd seat. After BCM* outputs 1st Alert*, ROA* sensor detects a passenger in the rear seats when all doors are locked.

NOTE: UIP: Ultrasonic Intrusion Protection
ROA* (Rear Occupant Alert): "REAR OCCUPANT ALERT (ROA) SENSOR"
BCM* (Body Control Module): "IBU"

[Rear Occupant Alert]

Before ignition switch is OFF, BCM* detects open/close of any door in rear seats → After ignition switch is OFF, driver seat door opens → BCM* sends 1st Alert* to cluster → All doors are locked → ROA* sensor begins sensing → In-car movement is detected → ROA* sensor sends 2nd Alert* demand signal to BCM → BCM* outputs 2nd Alert*

NOTE: 1st Alert*: "Check rear seat" warning pop-up and audio guidance
2nd Alert*: Horn, Blinking warning lamp, Text message
