OCS (Occupant Classification System) Sensor
The OC system monitors a front passenger seat for occupancy by means of a pressure sensitive matrix sensor, but the BodySense system detects seat occupancy and classifies the occupant by using an electrical field sensor. Unlike the pressure sensitive matrix sensor, the electrical field sensor is very sensitive to moisture and electronic devices and therefore please give customers advice not to put any electronic devices on or around the passenger seat cushions and also spill water or beverage on the seat cushions.
SRSCM recognizes the signal as 2 (two) different classifications; that is, 0 (Empty/Child), 1 (Seat Occupied) With these signal, SRSCM determines whether it needs to deploy PAB (Passenger Airbag) or not.
