Repair Procedures: Replacement

  1. Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from front hub.

    Tightening Torque: 

    88.2 ~ 107.8 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.0 ~ 79.5 lb-ft)

    NOTE: Be careful not to damage to the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire (A).
  2. Loosen the guide rod bolt (B) and then pivot the caliper body (A) up out of the way.

    Tightening Torque: 

    21.6 ~ 31.4 N.m (2.2 ~ 3.2 kgf.m, 15.9 ~ 23.1 lb-ft)

  3. Remove the pad return spring (A) and then separate the brake pad.

    Tightening Torque: 

    274.6 ~ 294.2 N.m (28.0 ~ 30.0 kgf.m, 202.5 ~ 217.0 lb-ft)

  4. Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts, and then place the brake caliper assembly (A) with wire.

    Tightening Torque: 

    78.5 ~ 98.1 N.m (8.0 ~ 10.0 kgf.m, 57.9 ~ 72.3 lb-ft)

  5. Loosen the caulking nut (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    294.2 ~ 313.8 N.m (30.0 ~ 32.0 kgf.m, 217.0 ~ 231.5 lb-ft)

    NOTE: The front hub caulking nut should be replaced with new ones.
    After installation caulking nut (A), must be caulked certainly using a chisel and hammer.
  6. Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle.
    1. Remove the split pin (A).
    2. Loosen the nut and then remove the ball joint (B).

    Tightening Torque: 

    34.3 ~ 44.1 N.m (3.5 ~ 4.5 kgf.m, 25.3 ~ 32.5 lb-ft)

  7. Remove the wheel speed sensor (B) from the front axle assembly (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    8.8 ~ 13.7 N.m (0.9 ~ 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 ~ 10.1 lb-ft)

  8. Loosen the bolt & nut after removing the pin (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    98.1 ~ 117.7 N.m (10.0 ~ 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 ~ 86.6 lb-ft)

    NOTE: Do not use a bar to release the lower arm from the knuckle.
  9. Remove the lower arm from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-4R100).
    1. Install the support bolt (A) from bolt hole.
    2. Install the support body (B) from front axle.
    3. Tighten the bolt (C).

  10. Disconnect the driveshaft (A) from the front hub assembly.

  11. Loosen the front brake disc mount screw and then remove the front brake disc.

    Tightening Torque: 

    4.9 ~ 5.8 N.m (0.5 ~ 0.6 kgf.m, 3.6 ~ 4.3 lb-ft)

  12. Loosen the strut mount bolts and then remove the knuckle assembly (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    196.1 ~ 215.7 N.m (20.0 ~ 22.0 kgf.m, 144.7 ~ 159.1 lb-ft)

  13. Install in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE:
    • Use a SST (09581-2T100) when installing the Brake Caliper Assembly.

    (Refer to Brake System - "FRONT DISC BRAKE ")
  14. Check the Front Alignment.

    (Refer to Suspension System - "ALIGNMENT ")
