Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Move the shift lever to 4th gear.
  2. Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly and air duct.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  4. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY ")

  5. Remove the snap pin (A) and then disconnect the shift cable (B) and the select cable (C) from the bracket.

  6. Remove the shift lever knob & boots (A).

  7. Remove the floor console assembly.

    (Refer to Body - "FLOOR CONSOLE ")

  8. Remove the snap pin (A) and then disconnect the select cable (B).

  9. Disconnect the shift cable socket (A).

  10. Loosen the bolts and then disconnect the shift lever assembly (A).

  11. Disconnect the shift cable (A) and shift lever (B) by spreading the cable end's "U" shaped clips towards both sides.

  12. Loosen the nuts and then remove the retainer (A).

  13. Remove the control cable (A) to the interior.
