Air Induction (G20): Notes
Air induction is controlled by Air Induction Valve (AIV) and AIV control solenoid. AIV sends secondary air to exhaust manifold using vacuum created by exhaust pulsation. Reed valves prevent secondary air from being sent back to air cleaner when exhaust pressure is greater than atmospheric pressure. AIV control solenoid provides vacuum to open AIV at idle and on deceleration. During acceleration, solenoid is energized, preventing vacuum from opening AIV.
