Diagnostic Procedure 3
- Remove key from ignition switch. Close all doors and trunk lid. Unplug 12-pin connector from door lock timer. See Fig 1 . Door lock timer is located on transmission hump, behind shifter console.
- Press remote controller lock button. Check for continuity between harness connector terminal No. 8 and ground. Continuity should not exist with button pressed. Press unlock button. Continuity should exist.
- Press remote controller lock button. Check for continuity between harness connector terminal No. 11 and ground. Continuity should exist with button pressed. Press unlock button. Continuity should not exist.
- If continuity is not as specified, go to next step. If continuity is as specified, test power door lock system. See DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK RELEASE - POWER article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. If continuity exists continuously, check for possible short in wiring.
- Unplug 12-pin connector from control unit. Control unit is located in trunk, on right side. Check for continuity between control unit connector terminal No. 14 and door lock timer connector terminal No. 8, and between control unit connector terminal No. 16 and door lock timer connector terminal No. 11. If continuity does not exist for both checks, repair appropriate wire. If continuity exists, replace remote control unit.
