DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Check)

NOTE: Use the following test to check overall function of PNP switch circuit. During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.

Malfunction is detected when PNP switch signal does not change between starting and driving. Possible causes are:

To check overall function of PNP switch circuit, turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ECM terminal No. 44 and body ground by backprobing. See Figure. With A/T in Park or Neutral or M/T in Neutral, voltage should be about zero volts. With transmission in any other position, battery voltage should exist.
