DTC Confirmation Test

Malfunction is detected when EGR flow is detected under conditions that do not call for EGR. Possible causes are:

• EGR Volume Control Valve (EGR-VCV) circuit open or shorted.
• EGR-VCV leaking or stuck open.
• Defective EGR temperature sensor.

NOTE: If voltage values are not as specified in the following step, allow engine to cool.
1. To set DTC, turn ignition on. Select MODE 1 with scan tool. Ensure engine coolant temperature is 14-95°F (-10-35°C). Measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 74 (EGR temperature sensor signal) by backprobing. See Figure and Figure . Ensure voltage is less than 4.8 volts. Start engine and let it idle for at least 80 seconds.
2. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Repeat step  1. Select MODE 3.
