DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Check)

NOTE: Use the following test to check overall function of EVAP purge flow monitoring system. During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.

Malfunction is detected when EVAP system is not functioning properly or there is a leak in hose between EVAP-CSPS and intake manifold. Possible causes are:

  1. To check overall function of EVAP purge flow monitoring system, raise drive wheels and support vehicle. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Ensure Traction Control System (TCS) is turned off. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds.
  2. Start engine and wait at least 70 seconds. With engine idling, measure and record voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 84 (EVAP-CSPS signal) by backprobing. See Figure and Figure .
  3. With transmission in a forward gear, turn A/C headlights and rear window defogger on. Hold steering wheel in the fully turned position. Increase engine speed to about 3000 RPM.
  4. While observing voltmeter, maintain conditions in step 3)  for at least one minute. Voltage should remain .1 volt less than voltage measured at idle.
