Mode V (Automatic Positioning System)
- To enter on-board diagnostic Mode V, turn ignition off. Place gear selector in "P" position. Ensure all doors are closed. Set dome light switch in center AUTO position. Within 5 seconds, turn ignition switch on and simultaneously depress memory SET switch, memory 1 and memory 2 buttons for more than 2 seconds. See Figure .
- Both memory set indicators should illuminate, driver seat and steering column will move automatically indicating system has entered diagnostic Mode V. As soon as indicators cycle on and off in turns (one ON, one OFF), start engine. Within 15 seconds, drive vehicle more than 4 MPH and stop. Do not turn engine off. Monitor indicator lights for malfunction codes.
- Malfunction codes will be displayed by both memory indicator lights flashing simultaneously in .5-second intervals. See MALFUNCTION CODE DEFINITION
table. If indicator lights cycle on and off in turns, no malfunction was detected at this time. To exit Mode V, turn ignition off or activate either driver seat or steering column positioning switches.MALFUNCTION CODE DEFINITION
