Test 2: ASCD Hold Unit Check
- Check ASCD Hold Unit Output
Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ASCD hold unit connector terminal No. 3 (Brown/Yellow wire). See Fig 1
. If battery voltage exists, ASCD hold unit is okay. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Check ASCD Hold Unit Power Supply
Backprobe between ground and ASCD hold unit connector terminal No. 1 (Red/Green wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check fuse No. 32 (7.5-amp). If fuse is okay, check for an open or shorted condition between Fuse No. 32 and ASCD hold unit.
- Check Ground Circuit For ASCD Hold Unit
Backprobe between ground and ASCD hold unit connector terminal No. 4 (Black wire). Continuity should exist. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open in Black wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Check Main Switch Input
Disconnect ASCD hold unit connector. Check for continuity between ground and hold unit harness connector terminal No. 2 (Red/Blue wire), while depressing and releasing MAIN switch. Continuity should exist while MAIN switch is depressed, and should not exist when released. If continuity is as specified, replace ASCD hold unit. If continuity is not as specified, check ASCD steering switch. See COMPONENT TESTS
. Check ASCD switch ground circuit. Repair or replace as necessary.
