Refueling One-Way Fuel Valve Test (Altima, Maxima & Sentra)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2000 Nissan Xterra, 2000 Nissan Sentra, 2000 Nissan Quest, 2000 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2000 Nissan Maxima. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: One-way fuel valve is not replaceable. If defective, fuel tank must be replaced.

Remove fuel tank. Drain fuel from tank using a hand pump. Remove fuel filler tube and hose. To check if one-way fuel valve is functioning properly, insert stick into valve. If valve opens when stick is inserted and closes when stick is removed, valve is okay. If valve does not open when stick is inserted and close when stick is removed, replace fuel tank.
