Disabling & Activating Air Bag System
- All models are equipped with Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To disable air bag system, disconnect negative and then positive battery cables. Shield battery cables. Wait at least 10 minutes. Remove lower cover from steering wheel. Unplug SRS connector.
- All SRS wiring harnesses and connectors are Yellow. DO NOT use electrical test equipment on these circuits. Use caution when working around steering column, as air bag could deploy. To activate system, reconnect SRS connector and battery cables.
- Check system operation. Turn ignition on. AIR BAG warning light should come on for about 7 seconds and then turn off, indicating system is operational. If AIR BAG warning light does not operate as described, a problem exists in SRS.
