Ignition Switch (Start Signal): Sentra

  1. Measure voltage between ground and PCM harness connector terminal No. 41 (Black/Yellow wire) by backprobing. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to START position. Battery voltage should exist. With ignition switch in any other position, about zero volts should exist. If voltage is not as specified, replace 10-amp fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector. Remove 10-amp fuse from fuse block. Check continuity between PCM harness connector terminal No. 41 (Black/Yellow wire) and fuse block cavity No. 21. If continuity does not exist, repair short or ground in power circuit. If continuity exists, no problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article. If continuity does not exist, repair open or short circuit.
