DTC Confirmation Test (Using Generic Scan Tool)

NOTE: If voltage values are not as specified in the following step, allow engine to cool.
  1. Turn ignition on. Select MODE 1 with scan tool. Ensure engine coolant temperature is 14-122°F (-10-50°C).
    CAUTION: DO NOT use ECM ground terminals when measuring voltage.
  2. Measure voltage between ground and EGR temperature sensor signal circuit at ECM terminal No. 72 (Red/Black wire) by backprobing. See Figure and Figure . Ensure voltage is less than 4.8 volts.
  3. Start engine and let it idle for at least 80 seconds. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Repeat this procedure. Select MODE 3 on scan tool.
  4. If DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
