Without CONSULT-II

  1. Turn ignition on and wait at least one second. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds.
  2. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor harness connector (Brown), then reconnect within 5 seconds. Idle speed should be 750-850 RPM. If idle speed is not as specified, go to step  4. If idle speed is as specified, go to next step.
  3. Quickly increase engine speed 2 or 3 times. Ensure idle speed is 750-850 RPM and ignition timing is 13-17°BTDC.
  4. If idle air volume learning cannot be successfully completed, perform the following:
    • Ensure throttle valve is fully closed.
    • Ensure no vacuum leaks exist.
    • Adjust closed throttle position switch by performing BASIC INSPECTION. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.

    If engine stalls or idle speed fluctuates, repair cause of condition and repeat procedure.
