DTC Confirmation Procedure
CAUTION:
DO NOT remove fuel filler cap during the DTC confirmation procedure.
NOTE:
Ensure EVAP hoses are connected to EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve properly. If DTC confirmation procedure has been previously conducted, always turn ignition switch to OFF position and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.
NOTE:
Perform DTC WORK SUPPORT when the fuel level is between 1/4 and 3/4 full and vehicle is placed on a level flat surface. Open hood before conducting the DTC confirmation procedure.
Using CONSULT-II
- Tighten filler cap securely until ratcheting sound is heard.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position and select DATA MONITOR mode.
- Ensure the following conditions are met:
- COOLAN TEMP/S: 32-158°F (0-70°C).
- INT/A TEMP SE: 32-140°F (0-60°C).
- Select EVAP SML LEAK P0442/P1442 of EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode. Follow instructions displayed on CONSULT-II. See Fig 1. If the engine speed cannot be maintained within the range displayed, see PRELIMINARY INSPECTION & ADJUSTMENTS in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article.
- Ensure that OK is displayed. If NG is displayed, select SELF-DIAG RESULTS mode and ensure that EVAP GROSS LEAK (P0455) is displayed. If EVAP GROSS LEAK (P0455) is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If DTC P0442 is displayed, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE for DTC P0442: EVAP CONTROL SMALL LEAK DETECTED (NEGATIVE PRESSURE).
Using GST
- Start the engine.
- Drive vehicle according to driving pattern. See DRIVING PATTERNS .
- Stop vehicle.
- Select MODE 1. If SRT of EVAP system is not set yet, go to next step. If SRT of EVAP system is set, the result will be OK.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Start the engine.
- Drive vehicle again according to the driving pattern.
- Stop vehicle.
- Select MODE 3.
- If P0455 is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- If DTC P0442 is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE for DTC P0442: EVAP CONTROL SMALL LEAK DETECTED (NEGATIVE PRESSURE).
- If DTC P0441 is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE for DTC P0441: EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM INCORRECT PURGE FLOW.
- If DTC P0455, P0441 or P0442 are not displayed, go to next step.
- Select MODE 1. If SRT of EVAP system is set, the result will be OK. If SRT of EVAP system is not set, go to step 6.
