DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

NOTE: Never remove fuel filler cap during DTC confirmation test.
  1. Ensure fuel level is between 1/4 and 3/4 full and vehicle is on level surface. Ensure EVAP hoses are connected properly to EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve.
  2. Open engine hood.
  3. Tighten fuel filler cap securely until ratcheting sound is heard.
  4. Turn ignition on. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds.
  5. Turn ignition on. Select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II.
  6. Ensure the following conditions are met:
    • COOLAN TEMP/S: 32-158°F (0-70°C).
    • INT A/TEMP SE: 32-140°F (0-60°C).
    7. NOTE: If engine speed cannot be maintained within range displayed on CONSULT-II screen, perform BASIC INSPECTION. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
  7. Select EVAP SML LEAK P0442/P1422 of EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode. Follow instruction displayed.
  8. Ensure that OK is displayed. If NG is displayed, select SELF-DIAG RESULTS mode and ensure that EVAP GROSS LEAK (P0455) is displayed. If it is displayed, see DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If P0442 is displayed, see DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under P0442.
