Possible Causes

Malfunction is detected when

1. An excessively high voltage is sent to ECM through the MIL circuit under a condition that calls for MIL to light up.
2. An excessively low voltage is sent to ECM through the MIL circuit under a condition that calls for MIL not to light up.

Possible causes are:

• MIL circuit open or shorted.
• Defective instrument cluster (MIL LED).
