Total End Play

Measure clearance between front sun gear and needle bearing for oil pump cover.

Select proper thickness of bearing race so that end play is within specifications.

Measure dimensions "K" and "L" and then calculate dimension "J".

1. Measure dimension "K".

2. Measure dimension "L".

3. Calculate dimension "J".
  1. "J": Distance between oil pump fitting surface of transmission case and needle bearing mating surface of front sun gear.
    J = K - L
Measure dimensions "M1" and "M2" and then calculate dimension "M".

1. Place bearing race and needle bearing on oil pump assembly.

2. Measure thickness of straightedge "M1 ".

3. Measure thickness of straightedge "M2 ".

4. Calculate dimension "M".
  1. "M": Distance between trans mission case fitting surface of oil pump and needle bearing on oil pump.
    M = M1 - M2
Adjust total end play "T1 ".
1. T1 = J - M
2. Total end play "T1 ":
3. 0.25 - 0.55 mm (0.0098 - 0.0217 in)
- Select proper thickness of bearing race so that total end play is within specifications.
  Bearing races: Refer to " BEARING RACE FOR ADJUSTING TOTAL END PLAY ".
