Revolution Sensor: Installation

CAUTION: After completing installation, check for transmission fluid leakage and fluid level. See CHECKING FLUID LEVELS .
  1. Install revolution sensor in transmission case with bolt. See Figure. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Connect revolution sensor connector. See Figure.
  3. Securely fasten revolution sensor harness with clips.
  4. Apply recommended sealant to rear extension assembly as shown, see Fig 1. Completely remove all moisture, oil and old sealant from transmission case and rear extension assembly mounting surfaces.
  5. Install rear extension assembly to transmission case (with needle bearing). See Figure.
  6. Tighten rear extension assembly mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . (Because terminal bracket is tightened together with output shaft and companion flange, it should be installed before procedure 5.) DO NOT reuse self-sealing bolts. See .
  7. Install rear engine member. See Figure. Tighten to specification.
  8. Install oil pan to transmission case using the following steps
    1. Install oil pan gasket to oil pan. DO NOT reuse oil pan gasket. Install it in the direction to align hole positions. Completely remove all moisture, oil and old gasket from oil pan mounting surface.
    2. Install oil pan (with oil pan gasket) to transmission case. Install it so that drain plug comes to the position as shown. Use care to not pinch electrical harnesses.
    3. Tighten oil pan mounting bolts to specification in sequence shown after temporarily tightening them. See Fig 2. DO NOT reuse oil pan mounting bolts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  9. Install drain plug to oil pan. DO NOT reuse drain plug gasket. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Connect heated oxygen sensor No. 2 harness connector.
  11. Install rear drive shaft. See DRIVE SHAFTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  12. Install front exhaust pipe and center exhaust pipe.
  13. Connect negative battery terminal.
  14. Pour new transmission fluid into transmission case. See DRAINING & REFILLING .
