Removal & Installation

CAUTION:
To prevent electrostatic discharge, do not touch Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector pins or components on circuit board.
- Turn ignition OFF and wait at least 10 seconds. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove two screws attaching each driver side sound insulator to instrument panel. Remove driver side sound insulators. Loosen Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector screws. See Figure . Remove PCM harness connectors. Press PCM retaining tab. Slide PCM out of PCM bracket.
- To install, ensure service number on new PCM is same as service number on old PCM (or updated number). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten PCM harness connector screws to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). Connect negative battery cable. Reprogram PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under PROGRAMMING.
