INTRODUCTION

On some 2006 M35/45 vehicles, the radiator fan motor may begin to operate incorrectly or not operate at all. If this occurs, in certain limited circumstances, the engine control logic may temporarily reduce engine output in order to protect against overheating damage. To prevent this potential condition, Infiniti is conducting this Voluntary Service Campaign to replace the radiator fan control module free of charge for parts and labor. 

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Infiniti has assigned identification number P8227 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

Dealers are to correct each vehicle falling within the range of this campaign that enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer's inventory.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Turn the Ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the LH and RH engine covers.
    • Pull UP on the covers near the clips to snap the clips loose (see Fig 1).

  3. Remove the 2 bolts shown in Fig 2 and then remove the air intake duct.

  4. Locate the radiator cooling fan control module (see Fig 3).
    • Look between the front of the engine and the radiator cooling fans.
  5. Disconnect the 3 harness connectors form the cooling fan control module (see Fig 3).
  6. Remove the 2 mounting bolts shown in Fig 3 and then remove the cooling fan control module.
  7. Install the new cooling fan control module:
    • Install the 2 bolts - torque to 4.4 N-m (0.45 kg-m, 39 in-lb  ).
    • Reconnect the harness connectors.

  8. Install the air intake duct and 2 bolts - bolt torque 5.5 N-m (0.56 kg-m, 49 in-lb  ).
  9. Install the engine side covers - make sure the clips are snapped into place and the washer fluid lid is snapped in place.

REASON FOR SERVICE ACTION 

On certain 2006 M35/45 vehicles, the radiator fan motor may begin to operate incorrectly or not operate at all. If this occurs, in certain limited circumstances, the engine control logic may temporarily reduce engine output in order to protect against overheating damage.

WHAT INFINITI WILL DO 

To assure your continued satisfaction and confidence in your M35/45 vehicle, your Infiniti retailer will replace the fan control module free of charge for parts and labor. 

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO 

Contact your Infiniti retailer at your earliest convenience in order to arrange an appointment. This service, free for parts and labor, should take less than an hour to complete, but your Infiniti retailer may require your vehicle for a longer period of time based upon the workshop schedule. To ensure the least inconvenience for you, it is important that you have an appointment before bringing your vehicle to the Infiniti retailer for service. 

Please bring this notice with you when you keep your service appointment. Instructions have been sent to your Infiniti retailer.
