Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK GROUND CONNECTION
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Check ground connection M95. Refer to
"CIRCUIT INSPECTION
".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 2.
NO: Repair or replace ground connection.
- CHECK APP SENSOR 1 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Disconnect accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor harness connector.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between APP sensor harness connector and ground.
APP sensor Ground Voltage (V) Connector Terminal E112(1) 5 Ground Approx. 5 E116(2) 5 (1) Without ICC (2) With ICC Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 4.
NO: GO TO 3.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors M6, E106
- Harness for open or short between ECM and accelerator pedal position sensor
: Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK APP SENSOR 2 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-I
- CHECK APP SENSOR 2 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-II
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between APP sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
APP sensor ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E112(1) 6 M164 103 Existed E116(2) 3 (1) Without ICC (2) With ICC Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 7.
NO: GO TO 6.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors M6, E106
- Harness for open or short between ECM and accelerator pedal position sensor
: Repair open circuit.
- CHECK APP SENSOR 2 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-III
Check harness for short to power and short to ground, between the following terminals.
ECM Sensor Connector Terminal Name Connector Terminal F112 46 CKP sensor (POS) F2 1 M164 103 APP sensor E112(1) 6 E116(2) 3 107 EVAP control system pressure sensor B30 3 Refrigerant pressure sensor E77 3 (1) Without ICC (2) With ICC Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 8.
NO: Repair short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK COMPONENTS
Check the following.
- Crankshaft position sensor (POS) (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- EVAP control system pressure sensor (Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".)
- Refrigerant pressure sensor (Refer to
"DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
".)
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 15.
NO: Replace malfunctioning component.
- CHECK APP SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between APP sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
APP sensor ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E112(1) 4 M164 100 Existed 2 104 E116(2) 1 M164 100 2 104 (1) Without ICC (2) With ICC - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 11.
NO: GO TO 10.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors M6, E106
- Harness for open or short between ECM and accelerator pedal position sensor
: Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK APP SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Check the continuity between APP sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
APP sensor ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E112(1) 3 M164 97 Existed 1 98 E116(2) 4 M164 97 6 98 (1) Without ICC (2) With ICC - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 13.
NO: GO TO 12.
- Check the continuity between APP sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors M6, E106
- Harness for open or short between ECM and accelerator pedal position sensor
: Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK APP SENSOR
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 15.
NO: GO TO 14.
- REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY
- Replace accelerator pedal assembly.
- Go to "SPECIAL REPAIR REQUIREMENT ".
: INSPECTION END
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
