The task of the TCM is to receive and evaluate incoming electrical status and actuate the control/switchover valves of the TCM accordingly. Via the control/switchover valves and the downstream control/shift valves (integrated in the shift valve body), the hydraulic flow to the respective gear actuator cylinders, the clutches and the park pawl system is enabled in order to initiate the gear (range) change.
