Wiper Start Suppression Function
The wiper startup suppression is for preventing people from being sprayed with water from the windshield, when getting in or out of the vehicle, as the result of an initiated wipe operation.
Wiper Start Suppression Operation
- If a door is opened during a wipe procedure, the BCM interrupts the actuation of the wiper motor.
- The opening of the left/right front door is recognized by the status of the left/right front door switch in the left/right front door lock assembly. The left/right front door control unit reads in the status of the left/right front door switch directly, and sends it to the BCM via interior CAN.
- The opening of the back door is recognized by the status of the back door switch in the back door lock assembly. The BCM reads in the status of the back door switch directly.
- The BCM reads in all relevant information, evaluates it and interrupts actuation of the wiper motor. An already started wiping procedure is not interrupted immediately. The wipers continue to move to the stop position.
