ENGINE

DIESEL HARD HOT START

VEHICLES AFFECTED

1981 and 1982 Diesel Vehicles.

SERVICE INFORMATION

After reaching normal operating temperatures, the affected vehicles may be hard to restart after parking for a short period of time. A new thermoswitch is available that will help this condition. Use the following procedure to install the new thermoswitch.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. After the engine has reached room temperature, slowly remove the radiator cap to release any cooling system pressure. Reinstall radiator cap.

2. Disconnect and remove the single-wire thermoswitch located on the thermostat housing.

3. Coat the threads of the new thermoswitch with a non-hardening type gasket sealer. Install the new thermoswitch and reconnect the thermoswitch lead wire.

4. Replace any lost coolant.
