Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Disconnect battery ground.
3. Disconnect front exhaust pipe.
4. Disconnect brace rod from front bell housing.
5. Disconnect electrical wires at starter solenoid.
6. Remove attaching bracket to engine mount bolt.
7. Remove starter bolts and shims, if equipped.
8. Remove bracket from starter, if necessary.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Torque starter and bracket to engine bolts to 33 ft. lbs.
10. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
