Armature Coil Test
- Check continuity between commutator segments and armature coil core. If continuity is present between commutator and armature, replace armature. Check for continuity between segments of commutator. If continuity is not present, replace armature.
- Using a growler, check armature for short circuits. Hold a piece of hacksaw blade against armature. Slowly rotate armature. Short circuit in armature will attract blade to armature or cause it to vibrate. Replace armature if necessary.
