Strut Assembly: Installation

  1. Loosely install damper on frame with the aligning tab facing inside. Install attaching nuts. Install damper fork over the driveshaft and onto the lower control arm. Install the strut assembly in the damper fork so tab on strut housing aligns with slot in fork. Loosely install pinch bolt (at the top of damper fork).
  2. Loosely install damper fork bolt and a new self-locking nut at bottom of damper fork. Place jack under knuckle, and raise it until vehicle just lifts off safety stands.
  3. Tighten the damper pinch bolt. Tighten the damper fork bolt and self-locking nut. Tighten flange nuts on top of the damper. Install brake hose mounts and bolts. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
