SERVICE INFORMATION
Whenever servicing the MID Unit, it is critical to understand the operation of the display unit, The MID Control Unit and the GPS Receiver. Here are some helpful hints to remember when servicing and ordering parts related to the operation of the Compass and the Clock on the MID Unit:
- If the MID Display Unit should need to be serviced, an exchange unit will need to be acquired from Clarion (Refer to Warranty Bulletin WB01-L004), "Revised 02 Axiom MID Exchange program" for return procedures. Be sure that the proper diagnostics are followed prior to ordering the Display Unit. Clarion only supplies the Display Unit not the brackets or the MID Control Unit. The number for Clarion for acquiring an exchange unit is (800) 346-9833.IMPORTANT: Be sure to remove and retain the MID Control Unit from the back of the MID Unit. The exchange you receive does not come with a MID Control Unit.
- If the problem is related to the Compass or the Clock, be sure to give the MID unit up to 30 minutes to reset. If the clock/compass fails to reset, first check the operation of the GPS Receiver Unit located on the top center of the dash (See Fig 1 .). Remove the cover and make sure both connectors are securely locked and the pins seated on the GPS Assembly. (Refer to the appropriate Workshop Manual for diagnostic procedures.)
- If the GPS Receiver Unit requires replacement, contact AIPDN The part number is 8-97238-360-0.
- If the GPS Receiver Unit is operational, and the compass and clock are not operational, then check the operation of the MID Control Unit (Refer to the appropriate workshop manual for diagnostic procedures.). The MID control Unit is attached by a bracket behind the MID Unit. If the controller needs to be replaced, it is available separately from the MID Unit (P/N 8-97264-226-2) and is easily serviced. Again, allow up to 30 minutes with the vehicle outside to re-acquire the satellite signal. See Fig 2 .
