SERVICE INFORMATION

This bulletin has been developed to introduce the 2002 Axiom Multi Function Display (MID) Exchange Program.

The MID unit is an intricate electronic component which controls the Auto Air Conditioning, AM/FM Electronic Tuning Radio with Cassette Deck and CD Changer, The Clock, Interior Brightness and various other features. However, for the purpose of this bulletin we will focus on the components that fall under the exchange program. If the component is not listed on the exchange model matrix located at the end of this publication then it is not affiliated with the exchange program and can be ordered through the Parts Distribution Center (AIPDN).

Various publications and tools have been developed and are readily available to assist you in troubleshooting and making the right diagnosis based upon the systems auto diagnostic feature. Some of these publications are:

  1. Isuzu Introduction to 2001 Vehicles.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Once you have performed the proper troubleshooting steps and have determined a component needs to be ordered you will need to provide the following:

  1. If troubleshooting procedures determine a problem with the radio, CD Changer, or MID display contact the manufacturer, by phone and provide the following information:
    • Dealer name, address and Isuzu dealer code number.
    • Dealer R.O. number.
    • VIN.
    • Delivery date.
    • Vehicle mileage.
    • Component model number (refer to chart).
    • Accurate description of problem.
    • Customer's name and address.

    Do not remove the defective component until the replacement unit has been received.

  2. After the replacement component is received from Clarion, notify the customer for installation of the exchange unit. A Return Label and Claim Invoice will arrive with the replacement component. If the customer does not return to have their component replaced within 30 days return the exchange unit to the manufacturer, using the procedure outlined for return. 
  3. Verify that the model number is the same on the defective unit, the exchange unit AND on the claim invoice before installing the exchange unit. 

    After installation of the exchange unit, the defective unit must be packed in the same manner the exchange unit was received. Enclose a copy of the claim invoice with the defective unit.

    Incorrect and/or damaged components received by manufacturer will be returned to the dealer and a charge back issued Liquid spill, attempted theft, modifications, and units tampered with by unauthorized personnel are not warrantable. 

  4. Using the return label provided by the manufacturer, return the defective components to the manufacturer as outlined in claim invoice. Defective components must be returned to the manufacturer UPS Ground, within thirty (30) days of the exchange components original shipment date. 

    Charge backs will be processed for units outstanding over thirty (30) days and will appear on the Dealer's Monthly Accounting Statement. Delinquent components returned after a charge back has been processed will be returned to the dealer with the charge back considered final. 

    DO NOT return the component to American Isuzu Motors Inc. 

  5. See note.
    NOTE: Genuine Isuzu CD players/changers were designed for use with compact discs bearing the Compact Disc Audio Symbol. It is important that the customer always use discs bearing this symbol in their vehicle's CD player/changer. Discs bearing Compact Disc Recordable (CD-R) symbol may not play or the Compact Disc Re-writable (CD-RW) symbol which will not play in these CD players/changers. 
  6. Stuck CD's or cassette tapes:  If a cassette tape or CD is stuck in a unit, DO NOT attempt to remove it. The tape or CD will be returned to the dealership by Clarion. If after two weeks have passed and the CD's or cassettes have not been retuned, contact your Zone Service and Parts Manager for follow-up with corporate.
  7. Reimbursement of labor and shipping charges for replacement and return of defective components should be requested on a normal warranty claim submitted through the Isuzu ICS system.

Compliance with the MID exchange program is essential to the New Car Limited Warranty. Claims submitted for the cost of new components are not in compliance with the exchange program and are not eligible for warranty reimbursement.
