Rear Camber Adjustment: XJS
- Ensure vehicle is on level surface. Install Camber Setting Hooks (JD 25B). See Fig 1. Engage hook end of setting hook into lower hole of differential subframe mount. Press down on body of vehicle and install round end of setting hook over fulcrum nut.
- Repeat procedure for other side of vehicle. Install camber gauge against rear wheel and record reading. Repeat for other wheel. If reading is not within specification, camber must be adjusted. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS .
- Camber shims are located between drive axle flange and brake disc. To adjust camber, remove setting hooks. Raise and support rear of vehicle. Remove wheel. Remove lower grease fitting from hub carrier (to prevent damage to fitting.) Loosen hose clamp and pull back inner "U" joint cover to access drive axle-to-brake disc nuts and remove nuts.
- Remove drive axle flange from brake disc. Remove or add shims as necessary to obtain correct camber angle. Each shim is .020" (.51 mm) thick and will alter camber angle by 1/4 degree.
- Install drive axle flange to brake disc. Reposition "U" joint cover and tighten hose clamp. Install hub carrier grease fitting. Install wheel. Tighten nuts/bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
