Throttle Position Potentiometer (XJS)

  1. The Throttle Position Potentiometer is located underneath throttle pulley. Throttle pulley is mounted to pedestal on top center of engine. Remove both throttle rods and throttle cable from throttle pulley assembly.
  2. Remove throttle pulley retaining nuts and lift up assembly to access potentiometer. Disconnect potentiometer wire harness connector. Connect Throttle Potentiometer Adjusting Meter (YWB 121) to potentiometer and a 12-volt battery source.
  3. Loosen retaining screws and rotate potentiometer until LOW indicator lights. Slowly rotate potentiometer in the opposite direction until the CORRECT indicator lights. Tighten potentiometer retaining screws and recheck operation.
NOTE: If potentiometer moves back to its original location while tightening retaining screws, install 1/2" O.D. washers under screws and readjust.
