Diagnostic Test Procedure
- Disconnect the cruise control switchpack (part of steering wheel) connector from the steering wheel clockspring connector SW2. Measure resistance between cruise control switchpack connector terminal No. 6 and ground. Measure resistance between cruise control switchpack connector terminal No. 3 and ground. Is either resistance reading less than 10,000 ohms? If yes, repair short to ground in switch circuit. If no, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between steering wheel clockspring connector SW2 terminal No. 6 and ground. Measure resistance between steering wheel clockspring connector SW2 terminal No. 3 and ground. Is either resistance reading less than 10,000 ohms? If yes, repair short to ground. If no, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between cruise control switchpack connector terminals No. 6 and 3. Operate the cruise control CANCEL switch. Does resistance reading switches between open and 680 ohms? If yes, recheck DTCs. If no short is found, possible intermittent fault. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If no, install a new cruise control switchpack.
