CONDITION SUMMARY

Situation:  In order to ensure that a limited number of 2010-2012 model year XK vehicles are fitted with the very latest software and parts to further enhance the owner's experience of these vehicles, vehicles within the listed VIN range require a number of module software updates and, if necessary, new parts.

Action:  Retailers are required to HOLD  all affected vehicles within their control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for onward distribution and sale pending completion of the rework actions detailed in this bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns.

NOTE: Repair procedures are under constant review and therefore times/prices are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Refer to the Repair Times Searcher (RTS) on TOPIx to obtain the latest repair time. Check DDW to ensure that the vehicle is affected by this program prior to undertaking any rework action. At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, ensure that all outstanding Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts are available and adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.

Warranty claims must be submitted quoting Program Code K100  together with the relevant Option Code. The SRO and part information listed has been included for information only. The Option Code(s) that allows for the drive in/drive out allowance may only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.

This program is valid for a limited time. Warranty claims with a repair date prior to the 31 March 2014  expiry date must be submitted for payment within 30 calendar days of completion of the repair.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION

  1. CAUTION: Ensure all ignition 'ON'/ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.
    CAUTION: A Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS/SDD diagnosis/module programming.
    NOTE: IDS must be loaded with DVD127.02 v.83 or later.

    Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.

  2. Turn ignition 'ON' (engine not running).
  3. Connect the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.
  5. Select 'Diagnosis' from the Session Type screen.
  6. Select the 'Selected Symptoms' tab, and then select the following:
    • Electrical - Instruments - Warning lamps
    • Select the 'Extras' tab
    • From the Recommendations tab, select Run  to perform the 'Configure existing module - Instrument cluster control module' option.
  7. Select the 'Selected Symptoms' tab, and then select the following:
    • Electrical - Information and entertainment system - Entertainment system
    • Select the 'Extras' tab
    • From the Recommendations tab, select Run  to perform the 'Configure existing module - Infotainment control module' option.
  8. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.
  9. Exit the current session.
  10. Disconnect the IDS and the vehicle power supply from the vehicle.
  11. Disconnect the battery ground cable (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 414-01).
  12. Remove the battery ground cable and Battery Monitoring System (BMS) assembly.
    • Remove the two (2) nuts.
  13. Install the battery ground cable and BMS assembly.
    • Tighten the two (2) nuts to 25 Nm.
  14. Connect the battery ground cable (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 414-01).
