ISSUE

A small number of dealers have reported that the Eco (Stop/Start) function is not operating as expected during the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) road test.

CAUSE

To enable the "Eco" function to operate correctly the vehicle requires specific fuel adaption data. This information is normally obtained during a normal PDI test drive allowing the function to operate normally, however if the drive cycle is restricted the "Eco" function may be inhibited.

ACTION

Should a vehicle exhibit the concern detailed above perform the following:-

  1. Drive the vehicle to get the engine fully warm
  2. Switch off the engine and restart
  3. Drive the vehicle at 30 - 50 mph for 5 minutes, then come to rest and allow the engine to idle in drive for 5 minutes.
  4. Steps 2 & 3 may be repeated to encourage the adaption routines to run again.
