Steering Angle Sensor Module (SASM)
| ITEM | DESCRIPTION |

| 1 | Clockspring (CLKSPG) |
| 2 | Steering Angle Sensor Module (SASM) |
The Steering Angle Sensor Module (SASM) is located under the steering column cowl and secured to the rear face of the Clockspring (CLKSPG) with 3 screws. The SASM is connected to the Steering Wheel Module (SWM) via a hardwired connection.
A code wheel and 16 optical digital sensors are installed inside the SASM. Rotation of the code wheel is read by the optical digital sensors to produce steering wheel angle, direction of rotation and rotational speed signals. The SASM is able to measure a rotation range of ± 720 degrees, although the steering mechanism will only allow the steering wheel to rotate a maximum of ± 540 degrees.
If a fault occurs within the SASM, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set and stored in the SASM. In this situation 'DSC NOT AVAILABLE' will be displayed in the IC message center and the amber warning indicator will illuminate. The amber warning indicator will illuminate until the fault is rectified.
The SASM and ABS control module can be interrogated using Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment.
